Girona regained top spot in La Liga after a 1-0 win over Rafa Benitez's Celta Vigo on Sunday, thanks to a Portu goal early in the first half and the heroics of goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga, who excelled for the league's unexpected leaders.

Girona are alone at the top with 55 points, one ahead of Real Madrid, who have a game in hand and face Getafe on Thursday.

Portu scored on a counter-attack led by Miguel Gutierrez in the 20th minute, and Gazzaniga used his magic to produce a superb performance to deny the home side and help secure all three points.
