FA Cup holders Manchester City were late to book their place in the fifth round thanks to a scrappy effort from Nathan Ake in the 88th minute, securing a 1-0 victory at Tottenham Hotspur on Friday.

City had never won at Tottenham's new stadium, or even scored a goal, in their previous five visits. But Ake intervened from close range after an error by Guglielmo Vicario, despite protests from Spurs that their goalkeeper had been fouled by City defender Rúben Dias.

Tottenham might have few real complaints as they were second for long periods against Pep Guardiola's side and barely forced Stefan Ortega into a save.
