The first Nokia-branded phone is finally getting the Android 14 update،

Unfortunately, HMD Global, the Finnish company that makes Nokia-branded phones, has been quite slow in delivering Android 14 updates to its devices. In fact, none of the Nokia-branded phones that could theoretically benefit from a Android 14 the upgrade received the update.

This likely has something to do with the fact that HMD Global is preparing to launch its own smartphone brand, which will also be officially available in the United States from various carriers and retailers.

That being said, HMD Global has finally launched the Android 14 deployment, and the first smartphone to receive the update is the Nokia G42 5G (via NPU). The update weighs almost 2.7 GB, so it's a fairly large download. It also includes the December 2023 security patch, which is pretty cool.

As for availability, India is the only confirmed country where Nokia G42 5G users have managed to catch the update as of now. However, HMD Global will expand its availability to more countries in the coming weeks.

Some other Nokia branded phones running on Android 14 have been spotted on Geekbench recently, so we hope they will start receiving the update as well. The two phones that have recently made headlines regarding Android 14 are the Nokia G605 5G and Nokia X30 5G, so if you own either of those, you probably won't have to wait too long for the update.
