Google Chat is getting a new moderation tool،

Google begins this week with yet another update to its Chat application. After introducing featured messages on iOS and Android, Google Chat now has a new moderation tool in the admin console.

The new moderation tool has been specifically designed to review and take action on Google Chat content reported through the admin console under Applications / Google Workspace / Moderation.

The search giant announcement that super admins will have access to the moderation tool when it becomes available in Google Chat. Additionally, they will be able to grant users the new “Report Moderated Chat Content” privilege.

Google recommends that this privilege should only be given to users who are most able to view chat content, otherwise it will not be very effective in reducing the workload of super admins.

Once a new report is submitted by users, the moderation tool can be used to view all reports associated with the post, view a post's edit history, and the conversation transcript (including up to 'to 5 messages posted before the reported message), as well as details that provide information on the type of conversation with the number of participants, space managers, guidelines, etc.

It's also important to add that moderators will be able to add comments to the report if the content requires further auditing in the future.

In the same news, Google announced that the moderation tool will also include a tab to manage quarantined Gmail messages. The Gmail tab is available to all Google Workspace customers.

The new moderation tool accessible by going to Applications / Google Workspace / Moderation will be deployed in the next two weeks. It will be available to Google Workspace Enterprise Plus, Education Standard, and Education Plus customers.
