Google Chat brings star messages to iOS and Android platforms

After publishing featured messages on the web version of Chat in November, Google announcement this weekend, the same functionality will arrive on mobile in the coming weeks.

With an additional shortcut in the context menu of the redesigned navigation panel, Android and iOS users can now access all “favorite” messages in Google Chat. This is a useful feature if you need to return to a message in a discussion later.

To star a post on Android or iOS, simply long-press it and click the star. Of course, you can delete a message from the original message or delete messages from the shortcut.

According to Google, Featured Post is not available in existing spaces organized by topic (legacy thread). The new feature is available to all Google Workspace customers and users with personal Google accounts.

As for availability, Google says Android users should have the ability to track messages in Chat over the next two weeks, starting January 19. On the other hand, iOS users will benefit from the new feature in the same time frame, but from January 16.
