The scoop is that Bard was spotted in beta version 20240111_04_RC00 of the Messages app. It looks like users could soon start RCS chats with Bard directly in Google Messages and even add Bard to group chats with other users. Shared screenshots show that Bard can help users write messages, translate languages, identify images, and explore various interests. The chatbot studies your location and past discussions to write better responses. Just a warning, though: Google's warning that Bard might not always meet the level of accuracy, so it's wise to double-check its answers. Adding to the scoop, lines of code unearthed in the beta spill the beans that you have to be 18 to dive into the Bard experience in Google Messages. And there's a problem: Unlike your usual RCS chats, the chats you have with Bard won't be wrapped in end-to-end encryption. Additionally, Google explains it clearly, mentioning that Bard chats and associated data are expected to last 18 months.
Additionally, Google makes a crucial point: you should avoid sharing posts with Bard that you wouldn't want a reviewer or Google to access. The description states that even if the examined data is detached from the user's account, it remains stored for up to three years.
However, Google provides an option to deactivate, manage and delete your Bard activity. If you decide to turn off the Bard Activity switch, your chats will only be recorded for 72 hours.
For now, the feature still doesn't work on Google Messages. Traces of Bard's arrival on the messaging app were discovered almost a year ago, and now it appears that its integration is finally almost complete.
