The match schedule for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada will be revealed on February 4, FIFA announced on Thursday.

As part of the announcement, FIFA will also officially announce the venue for the final, which sources say has been narrowed down to AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, and MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

Following the Sun UK's report on Wednesday that Arlington/Dallas had been selected, sources told ESPN on Thursday that neither potential host had been officially informed of a decision.

“We remain optimistic about our chances of hosting the 26 FIFA World Cup™ final,” Monica Paul, executive director of the Dallas Sports Commission, said in a statement Thursday.

“We continue to work with FIFA leadership to lay the groundwork as we prepare to host the biggest FIFA World Cup™ to date and we, like other host cities, look forward to knowing which matches will be assigned to us.”

Earlier this week, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy told the Bergen Record/northjersey.com that he was under the impression that MetLife Stadium, home of the NFL's New York Giants and New York Jets , was still in the running to host the final.

“The World Cup is going to happen. The question is where the final will be and what the schedule looks like,” Murphy said. “I think our chances stay about where they've been. I'd put them at more or less 50/50.”

The Feb. 4 announcement, which will be televised by Fox and Telemundo in the United States, will include “host city allocations for all 104 matches,” FIFA said.

As the tournament expands to 48 teams for the first time, there will be 16 host regions across three countries: Atlanta, Boston, Dallas, Houston, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Miami, New York/New Jersey, Philadelphia, San Francisco. Bay Area and Seattle in the United States; Guadalajara, Mexico City and Monterrey in Mexico; and Toronto and Vancouver in Canada.
