Meta launches “nighttime nudges” to remind teens it’s time to go to sleep،

Meta has introduced many new features specifically designed for teenagers using social apps such as Facebook, Instagram and Messenger. From parental supervision tools to more privacy features, Meta has attempted to limit teens' access to unwanted interactions and content on its social platforms.

Today, the social giant announcement yet another new feature that will not limit access to any content but will rather remind teenagers that it is time… to go to bed. Suggestively called “nighttime nudges,” the new feature aims to make it easier to manage the time teens and families spend on Meta's apps.

For once, Meta recommends to a large category of users that spending time on its applications when they should be sleeping is not healthy. The new nighttime boosts will have been designed to appear when teens have spent more than 10 minutes on Instagram in places like Reels or Direct Messages late at night.

Nightly nudges remind teens that it's late and encourage them to close the app. Obviously that won't happen in many cases, but at least Meta tries to convince the teens to do the right thing. Perhaps some will take into account the “Time for a break” warning.
