Samsung has just unveiled its new Galaxy S24 series, and it's turning heads, particularly thanks to its remarkable photographic capabilities. It's not just the Galaxy S24 Ultra's impressive camera setup, which now has a 50MP 5x telephoto lens; it's also about the range of new AI features in photography that are stealing the show. Photography features are enhanced with the introduction of the new ProVisual engine. It is claimed to improve various aspects including night photography, noise performance, zoom quality, color reproduction and HDR (High Dynamic Range) imaging.
The ProVisual engine of Galaxy S24 The series stands out as a comprehensive suite of AI-driven tools. These tools not only enhance image capturing capabilities, but also enhance creative freedom throughout the entire process, from setting up a photo to sharing it on social media.
The enhanced nighttime capabilities of Galaxy S24 ensure that photos and videos captured with Space Zoom shine in all lighting conditions, even when zoomed. Galaxy S24 Ultra, in particular, features a larger pixel size than the Galaxy S23 Ultra, now at 1.4 μm, or 60% larger. This improvement helps capture more light in low-light conditions, improving overall low-light performance.
THE Galaxy S24 Ultra tackles blur with a wider optical image stabilizer (OIS) range and improved hand-shake compensation. Video recording sees improvements as both the front and rear cameras have a dedicated ISP block for noise reduction.
THE Galaxy S24 uses analysis of gyroscopic information to differentiate the movement of the filmmaker from that of the subject, allowing for more effective noise suppression. This results in clearer videos even in low light conditions and at a considerable distance.
The ProVisual engine not only helps in capturing the perfect photo but also streamlines the photo editing process. With the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy AI automatically suggests editing options for photos in your gallery. For example, you can remove reflections from the image with the press of a button.

Additionally, you have the option to fill in a photo. If the photo is tilted, the AI will automatically fill in the borders. It is also possible to move a person or object within the frame and fill the background seamlessly.
The edit suggestion feature leverages Galaxy AI to recommend appropriate adjustments for each photo. To ensure transparency, whenever the Galaxy S24 uses generative AI to enhance an image, a watermark will appear on the image and in the metadata. This ensures that you are aware that AI has been used, promoting transparency in the editing process.
Let's move on. If you have a fast-paced video that needs to be slowed down, the new Instant Slow-mo feature can generate additional frames based on movement. This results in action-packed moments slowing down more smoothly, providing a more detailed and visually appealing look.
HDR shooting has also seen significant improvements and the SuperHDR feature now comes with an HDR preview. This allows you to preview how the photo will look before capturing it. Additionally, HDR shooting is supported in third-party apps like Instagram and Snapchat, along with HDR gallery enhancements for a better viewing experience.
