In line with its transition to the USB-C charging and data standard, Apple has just announced an all-new Pencil 3 featuring the world’s most popular connector, which is also cheaper than all its predecessors. With a catch.

Apple Pencil 3 price and release date

The all-new Apple Pencil “only” costs $79, a far cry from the $99 of the OG Pencil and the second-generation one which costs $129. For those who purchased the original Apple Pencil 1, a USB-C to Apple Pencil adapter can be purchased separately for $9.

Fortunately, the new Apple Pencil supports some of the Pencil 2’s features, but those willing to splurge now that the Apple Pencil 3 is priced lower will have to wait until it’s released in early November.
