STALKER 2 Gets a ‘Final Release Date’،

For survival horror fans, it took a while, but GSC Game World's STALKER 2: Heart of Chernobyl finally has a release date. For now, the studio has confirmed that the highly anticipated sequel will arrive on PC and Xbox Series X|S on September 5.

One last delay

A recent – and rather long – Twitter post of the developer shared “honest thoughts” with fans who have waited a long time for STALKER 2 to arrive. It has been a “challenging development process” for the team, especially against the backdrop of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, which GSC had to flee.

However, the release is proud to announce the good news of the game's “final release date.” This means yet another delay, but most of it will be understandable given the trials and tribulations GSC has been through.

The message goes on to say that “preparations must be made to ensure that the trip to the Zone goes smoothly and as planned,” adding a thank you to fans for their “patience and support.”

The trailer above is nice and subtle, showing soldiers sitting around a campfire, sipping drinks while a gentle acoustic guitar plays. Next comes the release date, which hopefully signifies the end of long and arduous development.

The upcoming follow-up is the fourth installment in the STALKER series. The first game was released in 2007, with Clear Sky and Call of Pripyat launching in 2008 and 2009 respectively. It's been 15 years since the last entry. The timeline on the Wikipedia page gives a visual representation of the magnitude of this gap.

So mark your calendars for September, because STALKER 2 is coming, but that's still a few months away. However, you can pre-order the game now.
