Skullcandy TMNT PLYR Review – GameRevolution،

THE Skullcandy TMNT PLYR caught my eye in the same way as the original PLYR headset – with an eye-catching design. With most other headsets designed to be subtle, it's good to see Skullcandy going the other direction. And what a direction to take, since the collaboration with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles made it possible to obtain an impressive green color!

100% TMNT

The Skullcandy x TMNT PLYR headset is a visual treat for fans. Its unique design, consisting of tortoiseshell earpieces, a manhole inside the ear cushion and a radioactive headband, immediately attracts attention. The pepperoni pizza micro boom adds a fun and quirky touch, true to the spirit of TMNT.

With glow-in-the-dark features and the ability to change the colors of the ear gel and suspension headband, the headset allows users to customize their gear to represent their favorite turtle. This attention to detail in the design is impressive and speaks to even the biggest TMNT fans.

No major compromise for sound

Skullcandy TMNT PLYR Review

As explained in my original PLYR review, the sound quality is ideally suited for gaming, with bass, mids, and highs well represented. While Skullcandy offers other headphones that deliver intentionally powerful bass, the PLYR plays it safe with the tried-and-true “V-curve” that should please most gamers.

When it comes to directionality, the PLYR worked perfectly and I was able to identify enemies in Call of Duty: Warzone and Apex Legends without any issues.

You gain some; you lose some

The mic, however, continues to fall short of expectations at this price point. While it is passable and will be suitable for shouting enemy positions and such, I wouldn't rely on it for anything else. You may want to look elsewhere if you're considering getting a headset with a microphone suitable for live streaming or creating YouTube content.

Comfort is king in gaming headsets, and the Skullcandy PLYR does not disappoint. The adjustable suspension headband works well, reducing pressure and ensuring comfort during long, multi-hour gaming sessions. Built-in controls for mute and volume are conveniently placed, allowing for easy adjustments.

Final verdict

Priced at $149.99, the Skullcandy TMNT PLYR headset is positioned in the mid-range market segment. For fans of the TMNT franchise and those who appreciate a unique design and solid audio performance, the price may be justifiable. The extreme green colorway gets top marks from me. However, if you don't like the design and good microphone quality is one of your main priorities, then there is no reason to get the Skullcandy TMNT PLYR, at least at full price.
