Xech Brain Head Massager Review: design and fit

Xech has equipped the Cerebro head massager with a unique design. The head, eye and neck massager has a futuristic helmet-style design that should be slipped over your head from above. It is like a helmet that one wears while riding a two-wheeler.

On the front of the massager is an LED panel with two push buttons and options for Bluetooth connectivity, as well as power on and off. There are indicators for 4 massage modes, battery, charging and Bluetooth connectivity. A long press on the first button will turn the device on and off and a short press will change modes between different types of massages. When you want to connect your device to the massager, press button 2sd button that can also be pressed to change music tracks or receive calls. While charging, the battery indicator continues to flash red. This is a simple but adequate LED panel located on the front of the massager.

Next to the panel is the transparent visor which allows you to stay connected with your surroundings while having a massage. Xech claims to have introduced this visor because its consumers were complaining about it. While a clear visor allows you to watch what's going on around you and you can even look at your phone, it's not a very easy or impressive experience. I had to concentrate really hard to look at my phone screen and once when I had to take a few steps while carrying the massager, it was difficult as there was no adequate visibility. This was partly because the visor was not effective and partly because I was wearing glasses. There is no provision for people who wear glasses. I wear glasses and my power is also higher, so it was difficult for me to understand anything from inside the massager.

Inside the massager there is a soft cushion for the eyes, forehead and neck. This was good because it ensured that one didn't feel uncomfortable during the massage. Xech claims that the head size adjustment button on the back will help you get the perfect fit, but it didn't work for me. Since my head is slightly larger, the massager felt tight when I slid it over my head. No matter how much I tried to adjust with the knob, there was barely any change. Additionally, another problem that arises, specifically for women, is that if your hair is in a ponytail or bun, the massager will not fit comfortably. This was also the reason why my head felt like it was tight and when I slipped out of it, my hair was damaged. Due to the tight fit, there were also pressure marks on the top of my nose.

This is something Xech should look into, as their product seems more geared towards men in terms of design and fit. Its 1.1kg weight also made it feel heavy on top of my head.

The top side has a height adjustable knob which was also not very effective. The rear side has a USB-C port for charging purposes.

Xech Brain Head Massager Review: Connectivity

As mentioned above, the LED panel has 2 buttons and 5 indicator lights. The first button can be used to turn the massager on and off with a long press. Short press to change mode.

Bothsd The button which is a Bluetooth button can be used for various purposes. Double pressing this button can change music tracks. To pair your device with a head massager, you will need to press and hold this button. Just make sure the Bluetooth of the device you want to connect is turned on. Your smartphone's Bluetooth settings will display “Xech Cerebro” and tapping it will establish a Bluetooth connection.

Once done, you can play whatever you want from your device during the massage. Additionally, answering and rejecting calls has become possible. To answer a call, short press the 2nd button (Bluetooth), to end a call, short press again while to reject a call, double press the Bluetooth button.

Bluetooth connectivity was pretty seamless on the massager.

Xech Cerebro Head Massager Review: Performance & EFFICIENCY

Although it is primarily a head massager, Xech has targeted areas such as the forehead, under the eyes, eyebrows, temples and back of the neck as well as the head. When I first put this massager on, it started with “Relax Mode” and all I felt was moderate pressure and slight warmth around my eyes, forehead, and neck. No matter how much I adjusted the height, the main focus area, the top of the head didn't feel like it was being massaged. I felt more of an effect on my eyes, forehead, temples and neck than on the top of my head.

Let’s talk about the other 3 massage modes available. Bothsd one was Rejuvenation mode, in which the pressure felt is much stronger than Relax mode. Additionally, the red infrared light on the ceiling is turned on, which is believed to help with hair growth (especially in men). Sleep mode is the lightest, where light pressure is applied, which can be helpful in putting you to sleep if you're tired after a long day.

The 4th is the dynamic mode which includes maximum pressure as well as vibrations to the back of the head. This mode can be helpful for those who suffer from neck pain, as the vibrations aid healing in some cases. Otherwise, the pressure applied by this mode might be too much to bear in some cases. For example, I have migraine problems and the affected area is the temples of my forehead, so for me this mode has worsened my condition due to immense pressure. Sleep and Relax modes suited me best. This is subjective and the massage that is best for you depends on your needs. A massage cycle lasts 15 minutes, which is a decent length.

No matter what function you are performing, you will hear the mode you switched to and you will also hear when the charge cycle is complete.

Overall, Xech Cerebro Massager is less effective on your head and more effective on adjacent areas like your forehead, temples, eyes, and the back of your neck.

Xech Cerebro Head Massager Review: Battery Life and Charging

Xech Cerebro Massager is a battery-operated device with a USB-C port for charging. The massager can be charged with any smartphone charger you have at home, which is good because you don't need to buy or carry a separate charger for this device.

Charging it from 0-100% takes around 1.5 hours and once fully charged it gives 5 massage cycles of 15 minutes each. The statistics given by Xech are almost true because every time a massage cycle is completed, the battery drains by 18-20%. 5 massage cycles with one charging cycle is okay, and the charging time is also acceptable if you need to charge it after 3-4 days.

Review Verdict: Should You Buy Xech Brain Head Massager?

Cerebro by Xech is a wellness product that checks some boxes while others don't. The massager features seamless Bluetooth connectivity, the ability to receive, end, and reject calls, USB-C charging, and good battery life. However, the product falls short in the most important area: effectiveness. A head massager's job is to relieve stress and ease pain, but Cerebro wasn't exactly useless in that regard. It is effective around the eyes, forehead, temples and neck, but not so much on the top of the head. In addition, its construction makes it heavy and its design is not very comfortable for users. Overall, the performance of the Cerebro head massager does not justify its price. If you need a massager for target areas other than the top of the head and feel comfortable using a headset-style device, Cerebro may be your choice.
