Mobile gaming can be a black hole for your time and money, but phones that claim to be dedicated gaming machines are a pretty interesting bunch. In a world of smartphones where innovation is distributed thinly, it's gaming phones that dare to do crazy things.

Part of this is because few people buy them to make a difference, and Asus, for example, won't go bankrupt if upcoming ROG phone sales are weak. But anyway, speaking of Asus, the ROG 8 is now official, and the company has slightly changed the way it markets it. It's no longer the gaming machine it once was, but now a versatile, do-it-all phone.

Another super cool model is the Nubia Red Magic 9 Pro. This phone comes with a pretty unique design; the cameras sit flush with the rear panel and the front is taken up solely by the screen, hiding the selfie camera underneath (and hiding it quite well). The bezels are uniform and the phone resembles many users' wet dreams of what a modern smartphone should look like.

These gaming phones also come with the latest hardware, and they often have more RAM and storage than your usual flagship, as well as features like a microSD card slot, 3.5mm audio jack, buttons capacitance and LED lights (not everyone's cup of tea). ). And finally, they are cheaper than a normal flaghsip phone.

So, would you buy one? Now that the Galaxy S24 is on our doorstep, would any of you say, “No, I'd rather buy a Nubia?” This seems unlikely, but let's check the status quo. Vote in our poll and share your opinion on gaming phones in the comments section below. (We did this survey almost two years ago and it will be fun to compare the results in 2024).
