Sennheiser reveals a triple treat of headphones at CES 2024،

TL;DR:
  • Sennheiser is unveiling three new headphones at CES 2024: the Momentum True Wireless 4 headphones, the Momentum Sport headphones, and the Accentum Plus on-ear headphones.
  • Momentum 4 headphones offer advanced features including aptX lossless sound quality, low latency, adaptive ANC, and improved battery life.
  • Momentum Sport headphones are designed for athletes and offer unique features including heart rate and body temperature monitoring.

Headphones, whether in-ear or over-ear, wireless or wired, for sports or gaming, are now essential to our mobile lives. Chances are, most of us own at least one pair to complement our smartphones. Sennheiser, known for creating some of the best wireless headphones on the market, is now expanding its selection with even more options. At this year's Consumer Electronics Show (CES), now in its second day, German audio giant Sennheiser revealed three new headphones. The lineup includes the flagship Momentum True Wireless 4 earbuds, upgraded sports earbuds, and a new pair of over-ear headphones called the Sennheiser Accentum Plus.

The fourth-generation Momentum earbuds feature a refreshed design while retaining the fabric-covered charging case, similar to their predecessor, the Momentum True Wireless 3.

These new earbuds are built using the Qualcomm S5 Sound Gen 2 platform and Snapdragon Sound, ensuring lossless aptX sound quality and remarkably low latency. A notable addition is Bluetooth 5.4 compatibility, complemented by Auracast support, which enhances typical multipoint connectivity with a more audience-friendly option.

The new Momentum True Wireless 4 earphones feature Sennheiser's latest adaptive ANC (Active Noise Cancellation) features, refined tuning and improved battery life. According to the company, you get 7.5 hours of listening time directly from the earbuds, and the Qi charging case extends the total playback time to 30 hours, an impressive number. Apart from these updates, you can expect the same high-quality, audiophile-grade sound that was a standout feature of the Momentum 3 headphones.

The Sennheiser Momentum 4 headphones will be available in three color options: Copper Black, Metallic Silver, and Graphite. They are scheduled to open for pre-order next month on February 15th, priced at $299.95.

Enjoying music while exercising

The Sennheiser Momentum Sport headphones are designed as the durable, sportier sibling of the flagship Momentum 4. They stand out for their unique ability to monitor heart rate and body temperature: features that are still relatively new to the headphone market.

These headphones use photoplethysmography (PPG) technology, making them compatible with fitness platforms like Apple, Peloton, Garmin, Strava and Polar to sync your fitness data. Besides this innovative feature, the Momentum Sport earbuds have standard specifications such as an IP55 water resistance rating, making them suitable for most workout conditions.

Their semi-open design allows you to stay aware of your surroundings while enjoying your music. Battery life is also great, with 6 hours of playtime with the earbuds and an additional 18 hours with the USB-C and Qi-enabled charging case.

For those interested in trying out this fitness tracking technology, the Sennheiser Momentum Sport will officially launch on April 9, priced at $329.95. You'll have to wait until spring to get your hands on it.

Maybe you prefer the over-ear experience?

Finally, come the new Accentum Plus over-ear headphones. They feature AptX adaptive audio and multipoint Bluetooth connectivity. Boasting an impressive 50 hours of battery life, they also offer USB-C charging, providing 5 hours of playback with just 10 minutes of charging.

For those who prefer a traditional connection, there is also a 3.5mm port. Sennheiser enhances the user experience with touch controls on the earcups, adding to the sleek design of the headset. The Accentum Plus headphones will be offered in just two color options: black and white. This limited color selection might be a disappointment for those who prefer more variety.

The Accentum Plus headphones are expected to hit the market later this winter on February 20, with a suggested retail price of $230.
