“DIFFICULT SOMETIMES” – DEMON’S CLEAR MESSAGE ON BUSINESS AT HOME

Melbourne’s Harrison Petty has widely hinted he is looking to return to Adelaide as the Demons maintain they will not trade the forward this year.

Petty admitted on Tuesday he had considered a move to the Crows during this trade period, which comes as Adelaide list boss Justin Reid said the deal was not dead yet .

“That’s not to say things won’t change in the next 24 hours, but it’s very unlikely,” Reid said on Trade Radio.

Petty played golf in Adelaide on Tuesday alongside Crows Darcy Fogarty and Mitch Hinge. He is good friends with Fogarty with whom he went to boarding school.

A five-year contract worth around $800,000 per year is reportedly on the table for Petty and the first-rounder admitted the lure of returning home was strong.

“The decision has sort of been made now by Melbourne, which I’m totally fine with, I’m happy to still be on an AFL list,” Petty told Nine Adelaide.

“I guess at some point I would be open to coming back (home)… it’s difficult sometimes but my family is lucky enough to be able to come and see me there for a bit. But sometimes it’s difficult. »

The Demons believe he and Jacob Van Rooyen are their key forward duo of the future and, given Petty is under contract through the end of 2025, they will do everything in their power to keep him.

SIX OFFERS ON THE HAWKS’ PLATE FOR THE DEADLINE

Hawthorn is shaping up to be the busiest club on the final day of the 2023 trade period with up to six deals to be completed on Wednesday.

The most notable is now Jack Ginnivanthe Collingwood forward who has been pushed by the club to look for options elsewhere, in a move likely to revolve around the Hawks’ future second-round pick.

Ginnivan was a Hawthorn fan since childhood and wears No. 33 due to his love of Cyril Rioli; an act that is now available at Waverley Park following Tyler Brockman’s departure to the west coast.

But the Hawks also need to make a deal for the forward Mabior Chol from Gold Coast, and the Suns want a future second-round pick in exchange for the ex-Tiger.

To get this pick, the Hawks may have to loosen their grip on another midseason rookie pickup. Brandon Ryanfor whom Brisbane offers a future second round pick.

The Hawks would prefer to send a future third-round pick for Chol, either their own or Richmond’s, which they would like to receive in Jacob KoschitzkeThe impending move to Punt Road.

To complete the forward line makeover, the Hawks could find Jack Gunston who wants to return after a year with the Lions. He could be involved in a deal with Ryan.

Finally, Sam Mitchell’s side look to sign Essendon defender Massimo D’Ambrosioalthough they could also get him back as a delisted free agent due to rules regarding rookies and contracts in their third year.
