What is Private Space by Android? Find Out Inside،

These days, smartphones are more than a way to stay connected. Our devices contain a lot of sensitive information related to our lives. The Android store has thousands of apps that contain private items that can't be shared with everyone. To prevent these apps from being seen by anyone, Samsung and OnePlus have created a “hidden space” to keep your private information private.

Now something similar is coming to all Android devices, as Google creates a new “private space” to protect sensitive and personal apps and content. This will ensure that the user does not expose their photos, private videos, sensitive financial details and social media accounts to anyone who comes in contact with their smartphone.

Private Space is a dedicated space created by Google for Android that will allow users to hide anything they don't want others to see. The space is password protected and therefore has an extra layer of security. It's like Google's answer to Samsung and OnePlus' hidden space option.

Private Space was spotted in the latest Android 14 QPR2 BETA 2 update which offers various new features. The update that has been rolled out not only hides apps in the private space, but also all notifications from those apps are hidden unless the mode is unlocked. The Private Space feature will likely be available on all Android devices with the Android 15 update.

How to enable private space on Android devices

Android's Private Space can be found as a new icon at the bottom of the top drawer on devices with the BETA 2 update enabled. Otherwise, it is accessible by going to Settings > Security and privacy > Private space.

Since Private Space is private, users can hide the icon so that no one knows they are using Private Space. If they do, they will need to search for the keyword “Private Space” to bring it up. A quick settings tile/toggle may also be offered to lock and unlock the private space. The images below are Google's first look at this feature.

The private area can be locked using the same PIN/password used to protect your phone. There will also be an option to set a different lock. Google is still working on this feature, so expect a lot more refinement until it officially rolls out.

Benefits of having a private space

  • It will provide complete control over your sensitive and personal data.
  • Data on your device can be kept private.
  • Since notifications are also hidden, Space will ensure that no one except the user knows anything about private apps.
