Did Galaxy S24 Plus With Exynos 2400 SoC Beat Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 On Geekbench?،

While most of the Galaxy S24 series specifications have already leaked, the company has managed to create some mystery around the Exynos and Snapdragon variants. According to recent reports, the Galaxy S24 Ultra is expected to feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Soc. However, which of the other two phones would run on the Exynos 2400 SoC was unclear.

Galaxy S24 Plus could stay with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for India

On January 4, 2023, tipster Tarun Vats posted on X (formerly Twitter) that the Galaxy S24 Plus will feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC in India. However, he writes that the chipset is “almost confirmed” for the Plus series in the country, meaning there is still a chance that the S24 Plus could ship with the Exynos 2400 SoC. Nonetheless, this rumor corroborates some reports from the recent past.

It would make sense for the company to equip the Galaxy S24 Plus with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, as this would encourage more people to get their hands on this model. On the other hand, the standard Galaxy S24 could be equipped with Samsung's in-house processor, the Exynos 2400 SoC, in the Asian market, including India. In a related development, benchmark scores of the Snapdragon and Exynos variants of the Galaxy S24 series have surfaced online.

Despite everything, the Galaxy S24 Plus with Exynos 2400 SoC scores well on Geekbench

The Galaxy S24 Plus, featuring the Exynos 2400 SoC and 12GB of RAM, scored 2,193 points in the single-core test and 6,895 points in the multi-score Geekbench test. Surprisingly, these scores are very close to those of the Galaxy S24 Ultra with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC and 12GB of RAM on the same benchmark test. The phone scores 2,297 points in the single-core test and 7,104 points in the multi-core test. Therefore, even though the Exynos variant doesn't beat Snapdragon, it comes pretty close.

Here's what it means for customers

  • Now, benchmark scores indicate several things. Firstly, it is a positive sign for the Exynos 2400 SoC that it is catching up with its Snapdragon counterpart.
  • Second, it reveals that Samsung made a Galaxy S24 model with the Exynos chipset.
  • However, this also indicates that the Exynos model of the standard Galaxy S24 with 8GB of RAM might lag behind the S24 Plus with 12GB of RAM.

While it's great to see that the Exynos 2400 SoC could turn out to be almost as good as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, it's the actual performance of these smartphones that will matter the most. Users should wait until January 17, 2024 for more details on the upcoming flagships.
