We know Samsung plans to bring back its rugged tablet series this year, but we don't know exactly when that will happen. Previously leaked Samsung Galaxy Tab Active5, the company's next rugged tablet is a bit different from the previous model.

Several renders of the Galaxy Tab Active5 were recently leaked by MSPower User and the first major change is related to the physical buttons. These buttons are now positioned on the shorter side of the slate rather than the longer side.

The design change makes it easier for customers to use the tablet in portrait mode. Of course, this only applies to those who rely heavily on using these physical buttons. The Galaxy Tab Active4 was a bit odd due to the placement of the physical buttons, but the next model brings the series back to standard when it comes to design.

Apart from these high-resolution images, we also have information on the specifications of the Galaxy Tab Active5. Since this is a rugged tablet, it's no surprise that the slate is IP68 and MIL-STD-810H certified.

Furthermore, the leaked specifications list mentions that the tablet comes with a 1.2mm shockproof protective case, along with Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The S Pen included with the tablet is also IP68 rated.

Inside, the Galaxy Tab Active5 packs an Exynos 1380 processor and 4/64 GB or 6/128 GB of memory (expandable up to 1 TB via microSD). On the back, the tablet has a 13-megapixel primary sensor, while on the front there is a 5-megapixel secondary camera for selfies.

Other highlights of the upcoming rugged tablet include an 8-inch TFT LCD display with 1920 x 1200 pixel resolution, Dolby Atmos support, GPS, USB 3.2 Type-C and POGO pin .

Coming to the battery, the Galaxy Tab Active5 packs a 5,050mAh battery that is said to offer up to 16 hours of video playback, up to 15 hours of internet usage, or up to 33 hours of talk time 4G LTE.
