Honor discreetly launches the Honor X50 Pro days before the Magic 6 series arrive،

A few days before 2023 officially ends, Honor has apparently launched another phone, but hasn't made much noise about it: it's dubbed “Honor X50 Pro.” According to previous reports, it was supposed to go live in January, but here it is!

Right now, Honor is focusing on its upcoming Magic 6 series, which will be revealed on January 10 alongside Magic OS 8.0. The company is keeping a low profile on the X50 Pro, as Honor is targeting it as an offline device meant to be sold primarily in physical stores (via Gizmochina).

The phone launches in green and black, and there is a single RAM/storage configuration: 12/256 GB for a price of around $425.

There is a 6.78-inch curved OLED display with 1.5K resolution and 120Hz refresh rate – super smooth! The 10-bit display supports 1920Hz PWM dimming and has an in-display fingerprint scanner for biometrics. PWM (Pulse width Modulation) dimming provides relief to your eyes, especially in low-light scenarios. PWM dimming turns the screen on and off very quickly, and your eyes perceive it as a drop in brightness.

There is a circular camera module on the back that houses a 108 MP primary sensor and a 2 MP macro lens. For selfies, there is an 8 MP front camera. The phone is 8.45mm thick and weighs 192g.

It appears that Honor is using an underclocked version of the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip on the device. There's also a large vapor cooling system to keep the phone's temperature low and prevent anything crazy from happening. On the software front, this device comes with Magic OS 7.2 based on Android 13. There is a 5,800mAh capacity battery with support for 35W charging.

To make things even more complicated, rumors are circulating that the X50 Pro could launch under the name Honor X50 GT – this one could be aimed at online sales. Honor has confirmed the launch of the X50 GT in China on January 6, equipped with the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip, matching the X50 Pro.
