Xiaomi has made a remarkable entry into the world of electric vehicles. The company held a “Stride” event in China, announcing the top 5 tech features it's bringing to its electric vehicles and releasing the first look at its SU7 sedan. The company has invested 10 times more than its competitor Tesla and more than 5,000 engineers to manufacture electric vehicles that will top the charts. First, let's talk about the 5 main EV technologies that Xiaomi has tried to excel in. Later we talked about the first EV, Xiaomi SU7.

1. Xiaomi electric motor

Xiaomi has done extensive research to develop the most powerful electric motors. The brand has unveiled the V6 and V6 engines which are currently in the series production phase. The motors offer a maximum rotor speed of 21,000 rpm. It was also announced that the Xiaomi Hyper Engine V8s would reach 27,200 rpm and be installed in vehicles in 2025.

2. Battery

Xiaomi has built its battery production factory that makes the most powerful batteries for electric vehicles. The brand also talked about CTB (Cell-to-body) technology which saves space in the battery, thus leaving more room for occupants. The battery is 120mm thick and has a volumetric efficiency of 77.8%. CTB technology has a capacity of up to 150 kWh and a CLTC range of up to 1,200 km. Xiaomi manufactured 800V batteries in partnership with CATL, devoting thousands of engineers and 2 years.

3. HyperCasting

Tesla was the first to introduce die casting technology and Xiaomi has now taken it to the next level by introducing a 9,100 ton die casting machine.

Xiaomi even developed its alloy material, Xiaomi Titans Metal, a heat-free, durable and eco-friendly casting material. The brand uses this material on a large scale internally. It was used in the 72-in-1 die-cast integrated rear floor of SU7 models.

4. Autonomous driving

Xiaomi electric vehicles will offer autonomous diving features like automatic parking. Electric vehicles use high-resolution cameras, Lidar, ultrasound and radar. The brand claims that its autonomous driving capabilities of Xiaomi cars would be industry-leading.

5. Smart cabin

The Xiaomi Smart Cabin features a 16.1-inch tablet-style 3K display and a 56-inch HUD. The EV uses the fastest Snapdragon 8295 chip and runs Xiaomi HyperOS with various customizations and customizations. The operating system offers comprehensive refactoring, interconnectivity, proactive intelligence, end-to-end security, and an open platform. One can attach Xiaomi Pads to the rear seats of the electric vehicle and the 5 screens will work together seamlessly to provide an immersive experience.

Xiaomi SU7 announced

For the first time, Xiaomi today officially presented its very first electric car. The Xiaomi SU7 has an acceleration time of 2.78 seconds, which means it can go from 0 to 100 km/hour in less than 3 seconds. It can reach a top speed of 265 km/h and comes with individual driving modes, a 20-second boost mode and a top-level braking system. The intelligent chassis offers adaptive ride control, adaptive aerodynamics and adaptive sidewall. It contains a 101 kWh CATL Cell battery with a HyperCharge capacity of 800 V. The electric vehicle has a CLTC range of 800 km.

Xiaomi SU7 is available in Aqua Blue, Mineral Gray and Verdant Green and will be available in 2024 in select markets.
