Google’s At a Glance widget will soon start showing you train alerts, like it’s supposed to،

For Pixel phone users, the At a Glance widget has become a reliable companion, providing a quick overview of crucial information such as appointments, weather and flights right from the home screen and the locking. But one mode of transportation, the train, seemed to be a glaring omission in some parts of the world – until now.

As reported Android Font, train alerts are starting to appear in the At a Glance widget, suggesting a wider rollout is underway. This was spotted while a user was booking a long-distance train journey via Deutsche Bahn, Germany's national rail operator. Although At a Glance's settings list trains under the “Travel” toggle, this feature didn't always translate into actual on-screen alerts.

However, the tide seems to be turning. The trigger for this change remains a bit of a mystery, since the user first booked through the Deutsche Bahn app and Gmail picked up the details from the confirmation email. We therefore do not know if the widget retrieved information from the application or from Gmail. Interestingly, Deutsche Bahn recently revamped the layout of its emails, presenting all travel information in the body of the email instead of the usual PDF attachment. This, coupled with a redesign of the operator confirmation email in Gmail, could have played a role in enabling train alerts.

Beyond showing time and details, the new At a Glance widget also displays platform information for departure and arrival stations, but its availability may depend on your chosen train operator. While Google's At a Glance support page already mentions trains, hinting at the platform, station name, status and even seat information, the limited regional rollout was a frustrating reality for many. This global expansion suggests that Google has always aspired to offer comprehensive travel information, but individual train operators may have hindered progress.

More exciting developments are planned for the At a Glance widget. Soon, Pixel users will finally be able to move the widget to their home screen or even ban it altogether – a highly anticipated feature planned for a future Android 14 QPR2 beta, and one that yours truly can't wait to see. to try.
