Will ASUS ROG Phone 8 Series Feature Water Resistance? Here’s What We Know،
Taiwan-based consumer electronics company ASUS will soon unveil the next-generation gaming smartphones under the ROG Phone 8 series. Ahead of the launch, the company confirmed the water resistance rating of the next series.
ROG Phone 8 series will feature an IP68 rating
According to an official post from the company's Weibo account, the ASUS ROG Phone 8 series will feature IP68 water and dust resistance. This means that the phone must be completely resistant to dust penetration and resist any damage due to immersion in water for a limited period of time. However, the company has not revealed the details, such as the maximum time the phone can resist moisture damage.
As standard, most 2023 flagships launched with an IP68 water and dust resistance rating. The list includes the Samsung Galaxy S23, Google Pixel 8, and Apple iPhone 15 series. In fact, the flagships have maintained an IP68 rating for several years now.
ROG Phone 8 renders leaked
According to the leaked renders, the ASUS ROG Phone 8 will have a different design compared to previous models. For example, a large camera module protrudes from the rear panel in the upper left corner. Additionally, there appears to be the range mascot, complete with RGB lighting, towards the bottom. Apart from this, the leaked renders suggest that the smartphone has a punch-hole cutout and a bezel-less display with a slightly thick chin at the bottom.
ROG Phone 8 specs leaked
Regarding the launch schedule of the ROG Phone 8 series, ASUS will reveal it at the Consumer Electronics Show 2024. Leaked information suggests that the ROG Phone 8 and Phone 8 Pro will have a 6.78-inch FHD+ AMOLED display protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus. 2. The Pro variant could also support a 165Hz refresh rate and HDR10 support.
Upcoming gaming phones will feature Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC
Under the hood, the gaming phones will run on Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, which is the company's fastest. The standard Phone 8 could come with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, while the Pro variant could feature up to 24GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. On the rear panel, the phones will feature a 50 MP Sony IMX890 primary sensor, an ultra-wide sensor and a triple optical zoom camera with 32 MP resolution.
The ASUS ROG Phone 8 could feature a five-magnet speaker system with support for spatial and Hi-Rest audio. Connectivity options include a 3.5mm headphone jack for gaming via wired headphones, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth v5.3, and NFC. Finally, the devices could feature a 5,500mAh battery with support for Quick Charge 5.0.
