Apple's Vision Pro has become one of the most anticipated products of all time. The company started building some hype around it during WWDC 2023, where it showcased what the product is and what it can do. Since then, rumors and information regarding this device have been circulating online. In the latest development, a known Apple analyst has corroborated the previously reported launch timeline.
Bloomberg's Mark Gurman predicts Vision Pro will launch in February 2024
Last week, Mark Gurman announced that Chinese facilities were ramping up production of Vision Pro for an early release in February 2024. Previously, Gurman announced that the product launch could take place in March 2024, given the delay in finalization and shipping of units. Meanwhile, the company has also reportedly trained its store staff on setting up Vision Pro and assisting customers with the initialization process.
Well-known Apple analyst now corroborates launch timeline
Today, renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo corroborated the previous report. In his blog published on Medium, Kuo mentions that “Vision Pro is the most important product for Apple for 2024”. Indeed, the mixed reality headset is a unique product that has the potential to solidify Apple as a pioneer in consumer technology innovation, provided it performs as Apple has said it will over time.
The company plans to ship 500,000 units in 2024
Kuo says Apple plans to sell around 500,000 units of the product in 2024, which is quite ambitious on the company's part. Since the retail price of the product is expected to be $3,499, the company expects to generate revenue worth around $1.7 billion. While that's nothing compared to what the iPhones bring to the company, it's still a huge deal considering Vision Pro is an entirely new line.
Enthusiasts should expect Vision Pro to hit stores in late January or early February
The analyst also mentions that the product is currently in mass production. Manufacturers will begin shipping in the first week of January 2024. Thereafter, Vision Pro will hit stores by the end of January or early February. Kuo mentions in his blog that positive user feedback will help strengthen the status of Vision Pro's initial product in the consumer market, which will benefit the “share price of the associated supply chain.”
We already know that the mixed reality headset will only be available in the United States initially. However, there is no reason for the company not to release the product in other markets, including India, except the high price. Meanwhile, Apple recently launched spatial video recording on the high-end iPhone 15 Pro models. Videos recorded in this format can only be viewed on the Vision Pro headset, another sign that the company is preparing for an imminent launch.
