A list of the top five best-selling phones in the U.S. during October contains one surprise،

The counterpoint list One of the top five best-selling phones in the United States in October contains a major surprise. First of all, at the top of the list was the iPhone 15 Pro Max with a rather attractive 24% market share. With 16% of the US market in October, the iPhone 15 Pro was followed by the iPhone 15 with 13% of the market. You might now expect the iPhone 15 Plus to be next, but it was the iPhone 14 that finished fourth with a 4% share of the US smartphone pie for the month of October.
The absence of iPhone 15 Plus on the list is not necessarily a surprise. Many consumers interested in an iPhone with a 6.7-inch screen, Dynamic Island, 48 MP main rear camera, USB-C charging and spectacular battery life have decided to spend the extra money for iPhone 15 Pro Max. This way, they could get the Tetrapixel periscope camera offering 5x optical zoom, the new “Titanium version” and the first 3nm application processor ever used in a smartphone, the A17 Pro.
The surprise is the phone which came fifth. This is not one of the models in the 2023 flagship Galaxy S23 lineup (although by October the bloom had already been off for months). The Pixel 8 Pro would be a good guess, except that it was available for less than three weeks at the end of October.
You might have guessed that one of Sammy's foldable phones, such as the flip Galaxy Z Flip 5, or the book-style foldable Galaxy Z Fold 5, came in fifth. But the penetration of foldable phones on the market remains quite weak.

The fifth phone on the list was one of Samsung's mid-range Galaxy A's, the Galaxy A14 5G, which captured 3% of the US smartphone market in October. Released earlier this year, the model features a 6.6-inch LCD display with 1080 x 2400 resolution and 90Hz refresh rate. MediaTek Dimensity 700 SoC is under the hood with 4GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage. The phone supports additional storage up to 1TB through its microSD slot.

The Galaxy A14 5G features a triple camera setup that includes a 50 MP main camera, a 2 MP macro camera for extreme close-ups, and a 2 MP depth sensor. The front selfie sensor weighs 13 MP. A hefty 5,000mAh battery keeps the phone running and supports 15W wired charging.

Priced between $79.88 (offered with StraightTalk wireless service at Walmart) and $199.99 at Samsung, the combination of specs and price explains how the device surprisingly made it to the smartphone list best-selling in the United States in October.
