This survey is secretly (or not so secretly) about foldables! As you can see from the options, we're trying to see if people are excited about this not-so-new technology or prefer traditional, non-foldable phones.

The truth is that foldable phones have been around for over five years now and adoption has been slow to say the least. Foldable smartphone market penetration for 2023 is estimated at 1.6%, which is quite low considering the hype and expectations of the past five years.

Meanwhile, things aren't so simple, because for most of that time, Samsung was pretty much the only viable option in the foldable device market. However, with the entry of other major smartphone manufacturers into the foldable device market, the market penetration is expected to increase significantly in the coming years.

Increased competition also leads to better and cheaper devices, and we're starting to see this manifest in current foldable smartphone offerings. The Motorola Razr Plus is a great device, pushing Samsung's Z Flip series to evolve to compete.

There are also strong players from the Far East. Oppo, Huawei, and Honor have been making excellent foldables for a while, and they're sure to make an impression, despite obstacles like trade restrictions and political tensions.

Let's not forget that Google also jumped on the foldable bandwagon with its Pixel Fold model, and OnePlus decided it was time to shake up the smartphone market even more with the incredible OnePlus Open.
