Hacker Group Leaks 98% of Insomniac Files and Personal Documents،

Recently, Insomniac games suffered a ransomware attack by hacker group, revealing leaked images of Marvel's Wolverine. It now appears that the group has followed through on additional threats and released significantly more private data and documents.

Over 1.3 million files in total

The report comes from Cyber Daily – an Australian site specializing in technology and cyber news – which claims that a gang known as Rhysida leaked approximately 1.67 terabytes of information from Insomniac's servers. This equates to 98% of all information that has been hacked and leaked.

Among the data made available, files from Spider-Man 2, as well as assets from the aforementioned Wolverine game, have apparently surfaced. The leak shows information that the unreleased Marvel title will be released in September 2025.

In addition to this, it was also reported that employee details were also part of the leak, including HR documents, contents of some of the developer's PCs, and screenshots of the studio's Slack channel.

Speaking to Cyber Daily, a spokesperson for Rhysida said that developers like Insomniac are an “easy target”. The email sent to the source indicates that the hackers were motivated solely by money, with the group asking for $2 million before the data was leaked.

Sony launched an investigation, but Rhysida said “it would be better in the court”. Insomniac games has yet to comment on these developments at the time of writing. The studio is currently looking to release the next Spider-Man 2 update in early 2024.
