Apple iPad 11th Gen Preview: Our expectations،
Introducing the 11th generation iPad
To say that the rumor mill isn’t expecting anything exciting for the next basic iPad would be an understatement: aside from a newer chipset, it’s unlikely we’ll get anything major new in terms of new features or very different specifications.

iPad 11th generation design and colors
No changes expected
With fairly wide but uniform bezels all around, no curves on the exterior, and a sleek aluminum body, the iPad 10th Gen makes a great foundation for all upcoming basic iPads to build on, and we don’t find No real major issues with the look or feel of the affordable iPad.
A welcome change from previous iPads was the more diverse color list, which replaced the traditional silver and space gray with the much brighter silver, blue, pink and yellow. These have surely added some much-needed life to the range, and we hope the next iPad will only add to the options available.
iPad 11th generation screen
While most previous iPads came with 10.2-inch screens, we got a 10.9-inch iPad in 2022. Apparently, that’s the screen size Apple will stick to in a foreseeable future without much change. With the 10th generation iPad, we got a fairly large and bright screen, but alas, those are the few nice things we could say about this 60Hz non-laminated display.
While rumors claim we’ll have iPad Pros with OLED displays in the coming years, no such rumors are planned for the base iPad, which will likely continue to be one of the last screen-resistant LCD. Having a mini-LED display on the base iPad would be great, but we’re probably at least a few years away from that major upgrade.
iPad 11th generation camera
In case of emergency, take a photo
Yes, tablets should be your last resort when it comes to photography, as they are rarely the target of major camera intricacies. Apple is unlikely to update the 11th generation iPad’s camera, so the most likely outcome is to adopt last year’s camera “as is.” A 12MP PDAF sensor with an F1.8 aperture will therefore most likely complement the rear of the tablet.
FaceTime, essential for video calls, will likely remain similar in terms of hardware and software specifications. Center Stage, the awesome feature that keeps you in the center of the frame at all times, is most certainly making a return as well.
iPad 11th generation performance and benchmarks
Better, faster, stronger
While the Apple A16 Bionic isn’t on the same level as the Apple M series of desktop chips, it should offer more than a decent increase in raw performance. Battery life should also be positively affected by this performance boost, so the already solid iPad would likely last much longer.
In terms of storage, the iPad 10th generation came with 64GB of native storage, and while we really hope Apple upgrades to 128GB of native storage, the chances are pretty slim of that happening with the iPad 11th generation. will most likely end up being 256 GB
iPad 11th generation connectivity
The 10th generation iPad brought 5G and Wi-Fi 6 to the base iPad. Aside from Wi-Fi 6E being a potential upgrade, we don’t expect any other major improvements.
OS/Android version of iPad 11th generation
iPad 11th generation battery
No changes expected
Last year’s iPad lasted quite a long time in our custom battery tests thanks to its large battery, efficient chip, and power-efficient screen. We actually expect a similar battery to be available on the 11th generation iPad, so a 28.6 Wh or around 7,600 mAh battery should be coming inside the tablet. This would likely result in the same or even better battery life thanks to the more efficient A16 Bionic chip inside.
In terms of charging, the 11th generation iPad will likely get 20W charging, which could match its predecessor’s laborious two hour and twenty minute charging time.
Audio and haptic quality of the iPad 11th generation
Stereo speakers landed on the base iPad lineup last year, so we’re unlikely to see any improvements in this area. iPads generally sound great, so the next iPad is unlikely to deviate from that.
Hopefully we’ll get slightly revised haptics, as feedback on the 10th generation iPad was less than ideal, but this improvement is probably too far down the list of potential niceties for the new base iPad.
iPad 11th Gen Summary and Final Verdict
The 11th generation iPad is shaping up to be your model for an incremental annual update that doesn’t introduce many changes to an existing product. The only major addition is the newer processor, which may or may not have an effect on your typical daily usage.
Should you take this one? If you’re coming from an older iPad, don’t want to break the bank, or don’t care about the “pro” features of the higher-end iPads, then the iPad 11th generation might be perfect for you.
