Starfield Nominated for Most Innovative Gameplay at Steam Awards

Whatever you think Star Field, it's hard to deny that Bethesda's latest IP in 25 years has at least been a talking point. Obviously, this has left some impact on the gaming world, as it is on the nomination list on Steam.

But it's not the game of the year

Looking on the Steam Price 2023 page, you can see which titles are online for their respective categories. Although Starfield wasn't nominated for Game of the Year or Outstanding Visual Style, it has a chance to win the Most Innovative Gameplay award.

The designers of this game are at the forefront of creative experimentation, bringing a fresh perspective and brain-busting surprises. This game delights, inspires and entertains with something new never played before.

Bethesda's latest release takes on Remnant 2, Shadows of Doubt and Contraband Police. Voting will open on December 21 and close on January 2, 2024 at 10 a.m. PT.

It's up to you to decide whether Starfield is considered “innovative.” While it wasn't actually a bad game, many felt it was lacking, and some couldn't see it as a release with much longevity. It certainly doesn't look like it will have the staying power of something like Skyrim, but Bethesda will continue to improve its space RPG.

As for what's listed under Game of the Year, we can see that Baldur's Gate 3, Hogwarts Legacy, Resident Evil 4, and FC24 are in the running for the award. It’s also nice to see Lethal Company in the running. Considering it only came out in October and was an indie title, it was a phenomenal success, even surpassing some AAA releases.

It is perhaps not very surprising that Star Field wasn't nominated for much at the Steam Awards. But he could come away with at least one prize this year.
