Ahead of the curve: Galaxy A55’s promising Exynos 1480 capabilities،

Samsung's plans for 2024 may not include releasing a new Galaxy A7x phone (there wasn't one in 2023 and the Galaxy A7x line might really be dead), but there will definitely be a Galaxy A55 – rumors are piling up, the latest being regarding its chipset, Exynos 1480.

For months now, it's been all but confirmed that the Galaxy A55 won't get the Qualcomm chipset treatment, and instead, Samsung's next gifted mid-ranger will pack something with the codename S5E8845, aka “Rose” ( as it is called by its creators), aka Exynos 1480.

Now, the chipset that should power the Galaxy A55 is finally revealed on the Geekbench database. Test results are promising, showing improvements in both single-core and multi-core CPU tests compared to the Galaxy A54's achievements (via SamMobile).

The Galaxy A55 Exynos 1480 Geekbench performance:

  • Single-core CPU score: 1,180 points

  • Multi-core CPU score: 3,536 points

The Galaxy A54 Exynos 1380 Geekbench performance:

  • Single-core CPU score: 1,108 points

  • Multi-core CPU score: 2,797 points

What else is there?

In other words, the Galaxy A55, which has not yet been released, already outperforms the Galaxy A54 in terms of CPU performance, especially in terms of multi-core CPU performance. According to previous reports, the Exynos 1480 has four high-performance CPU cores clocked at 2.75 GHz and four power-efficient CPU cores clocked at 2.05 GHz.

As for the GPU, the Galaxy A55 will almost certainly sport an Galaxy A54.

The 3C certification for the Galaxy A55 revealed that the upcoming device will support 25W fast charging (the same that the Galaxy A54 is capable of) and will be sold without a charging brick in the box. As with other technical specifications, so far nothing has been confirmed (or denied). Insiders expect the Galaxy A55 to feature a 5,000mAh battery (again, just like the one in the Galaxy A54).

There are persistent rumors that the Galaxy A55 will feature a 50 MP main camera, much like that of the Galaxy A54. It's unclear if it will be exactly the same, or if there will be one or two changes to better market the device.

Although official release dates are yet to be set by Samsung, users can expect a likely reveal in March 2024.
