Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Darius Slay underwent knee arthroscopic surgery this week and will miss Monday night's game against the Seattle Seahawks, coach Nick Sirianni announced Saturday.

Sirianni did not provide a timetable for Slay's return, but sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter that the cornerback is expected to return by the end of the regular season.

Sirianni declined to reveal who would replace Slay in the lineup, saying, “We have the right guys in place.” Rookie Kelee Ringo and second-year player Josh Jobe are two of the top candidates.

Slay was the best player for an otherwise shaky secondary, throwing two interceptions – including one returned for a touchdown – and 14 assists.

The Eagles rank 28th in pass defense and have allowed 29 touchdowns through the air, the second most in the NFL. They could soon get some help there as Philadelphia opens the practice window next week for cornerback Avonte Maddox, a source said. Maddox is expected to play again this season after being injured with a torn pectoral in September.

On the offensive side of the ball, quarterback Jalen Hurts missed practice Saturday due to illness. He is expected to continue traveling with the team and playing Monday, but the Eagles are being careful not to sicken more players.
