Transfer Talk: Real Madrid set Jan. 15 deadline for Mbappe،

The winter transfer window has not yet reopened in Europe, but movements are underway and a lot of gossip is circulating. Transfer Talk brings you all the latest buzz on rumors, comings and goings and, of course, done deals!

TOP STORY: Time is running out on Real Madrid's offer for Mbappé

Real Madrid want definitive answer from Paris Saint-Germain striker Kylian Mbappé on his future on January 15, according to a report from AS.

With the 24-year-old's current contract with The Parisians ending this summer, Real Madrid are officially allowed to discuss a summer transfer as a free agent from the beginning of January. The Whites intend to act quickly and Fayza Lamari, Mbappe's mother and agent, will receive a contract offer.

However, the Spanish giants are not prepared to wait long for an answer after what happened in 2022. That was when Mbappé was heavily linked with a move to Madrid but chose to stay at PSG.

Real Madrid reportedly believe the January 15 deadline gives the France international enough time to decide whether or not he wants to represent the La Liga side.

This approach aims to ensure that The Whites will have time to find an alternative solution if they fail to agree a deal for Mbappe. Manchester City striker Erling Haaland is another player they have been linked with.

Real Madrid are confident in their position and believe the growth shown by Jude Bellingham, Vinícius Júnior and Rodrygo since their arrival at the Santiago Bernabeu will help persuade Mbappe to join.

Paper gossip

– Real Madrid remain interested in Bayern Munich left-back Alphonso Davies, as reported by Sport Bild. – Borussia Dortmund is looking to recruit a left back, with that of Real Madrid. Fran Garcia And Tottenham HotspurSergio Reguilón (currently on loan at Manchester United) are the two options Sky Sports Deutschland reports they are targeting. It would be difficult to find a deal to bring Garcia, 24, from Los Blancos, although Reguilon, 26, has a clause in his contract that could allow the Spaniard to leave Old Trafford early.

– Central defender of Benfica Morato is Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou's priority transfer target to strengthen the club's backline, The Sun reports. Tottenham's need for additional reinforcements has been compounded by Micky van de Ven's long-term injury, but Morato's release clause stands at £68million. Benfica, however, could be willing to negotiate as they need to raise funds after being knocked out of the Champions League.

– Red Star interested in transfer for free agent left-back Kai Wagneras reported Tom Bogert. The 26-year-old's contract with the Philadelphia Union has ended, but the MLS side are still in the running to retain the German, who first joined them in 2019.
