The new feature is called Backdrop and uses AI to change the background of your Stories. A few clicks and prompts will help you get a whole new background, which could be really fun and useful, especially if you have a little annoying thing in the background that you want to fix. Since its launch in 2016, Stories has received several useful updates, including AI stickers and an aesthetic overhaul of reports. The new feature is even more creative and will gradually roll out to regions other than the United States.

Basically, once you capture or upload content for your story, Backdrop will appear. It is highlighted by an icon at the top of your screen. When you tap it, a grid of squares spanning the screen appears, quite similar to photo editors. Then you receive a box to describe what you want.

Overall, you can ask the AI ​​anything you want, like “surrounded by puppies” or “surrounded by stars in a dream sky.” Sure, it might not be the ideal one you want, but it will still be pretty fun to play with.

Don't worry about lying to your followers – Instagram will show other people that you edited using AI – it will be labeled with AI-Backdrop. The platform also adds a sticker encouraging others to try it and also displays your description in quotes.

Snapchat also recently acquired a similar tool, although it is reserved for Snapchat+ subscribers.
