Leading telecom operator Reliance Jio has been making strides not only in bringing premium telecom services to Indians but also in diversifying the means of entertainment. Launched in 2016, the Jio TV app was Jio's first step in making on-the-go entertainment more accessible. The app, which can be downloaded for free from Play Store and Apple Store, offers over 1,000 LIVE channels across genres like news, movies, entertainment, sports, religion, and more. The app can be used by those who have Jio SIM numbers as all they need to do is download the app, enter their Jio mobile number and start using the app for free.

Unlike the Jio Cinema app (which itself underwent a major overhaul in 2023) which is free for everyone, the app Jio TV app is free only for Jio Sim users. Now, Reliance has announced new prepaid plans, called Jio TV Premium plans. These packages include 14 OTT apps along with all live channels on the go. In today's world where OTT platforms are becoming indispensable, these premium plans offering Voice + Data benefits along with subscription to OTT apps will appear as a good deal for consumers.

Before we learn more about the announced plans, let's first take a look at which 14 apps are bundled in the plans.

Looking at the list, we realize that except Netflix India, all major OTT apps are now part of the package.

The applications will only be accessible on smartphones. The packages will not be applicable on large screens like Smart TVs.

Jio TV Premium Plans:

Jio TV Premium packages will be available for subscription starting today, i.e. 15^th December 2023. Although content from some OTT applications is visible in Jio TV app, Disney+Hotstar will be activated using the registered mobile number and My Jio App will be used to claim Prime Video and Jio Cinema Premium subscriptions. There are 4 plans that bring Voice+ Data+ OTT together in one place:

Rs. 4498 Plan – This premium plan offers 2GB daily data, Jio TV Premium (14 apps), 100 SMS per day and unlimited voice calls for 1 year. Jio Cinema Premium will also be available with priority customer service. The plan can also be used with EMI.
Rs. 1198 Plan – This premium plan offers unlimited voice calls, 100 SMS per day, 2GB daily data and Jio TV Premium (14 apps) for 84 days.
Rs. 398 Plan – This premium plan offers unlimited voice calls, 100 SMS per day, 2GB daily data and Jio TV Premium (but with 12 apps instead of 14) for 28 days. Which two apps are not included in the plan is unclear at this time. More details are awaited.
Rs. 148- This is a data add-on voucher that will offer 10 GB data and premium Jio TV (12 apps) for 28 days. If you want to be economical, this one is suitable.
