Mitchell Starc Mankad attempt, Australia vs Sri Lanka, warning, bowling, Kusal Perera, news, highlights, videos،
Australian quick Mitchell Starc gave Sri Lankan opening batsman Kusal Perera an early ‘Mankad’ warning, halting his bowling action after his opponent left his crease prematurely.
After an unsuccessful review of an LBW chance on the first ball of the innings, Starc spotted the non-striker trying to get a head start.
Instead of bowling his fourth delivery, Starc stopped and told Perera “don’t leave your territory”, according to cricket legend Nasser Hussain.

He also explained that Starc had previously informed the umpire to watch the non-striker during his bowling stride.
“After the first ball, Starc had a little word with the referee, Kusal Perera just leaving his territory… he was telling Kusal Perera ‘don’t leave your territory’,” Nasser Hussain said.
“That’s fair enough, he told the umpire now, he told the batter, stay in your crease on that end…very hectic first pass.”
Later, in the last ball of the third over, Starc stopped his bowling action again, but Perera seemingly remained in his crease.
The dismissal of ‘Mankad’ dates back to 1948, when Indian bowler Vinoo Mankad dismissed Australian batsman Bill Brown during a Test in Sydney.
Since then the dismissal has sparked fierce debate, but after Marylebone Cricket Club changed the laws of cricket last year, removing the non-striker during a bowler’s delivery stride became accepted practice.
