Meta is rolling out a set of new tools to help strengthen Instagram's automatic spam detection system. According to to commitSo, these should make it easier for Instagram users to deal with spammy followers and the requests they send.

New moderation systems will filter out spam-filled content and place it in a completely different inbox. Additionally, once the new tools are fully implemented, users will start receiving notifications about whether or not their posts meet community guidelines.

So from now on, if an account is suspected of being spam or a bot, all subsequent requests it sends will be automatically filtered to an individual inbox. Users will then be able to review it and decide if they want the account added to their list of followers. If the request remains unanswered, it is automatically deleted after 30 days.

The system is supposed to analyze and filter everything from story views and tags to comments and follow requests. To make it easier for users, this will allow users to delete spam tags in bulk, instead of just viewing and approving them. And if a profile is marked as spam or bot and publishes a post, it will not appear on the content creators' accounts.

Once the new automatic spam detection tools are rolled out, you will also be notified if you post a message that violates company guidelines. This is not the first time Meta has addressed the issue of spam on its platform.

As a reminder, last year the company rolled out another update that prevents content creators' posts from appearing on the Explore page if they don't meet Instagram's criteria. However, it is still unclear how Meta plans to solve the problem of spam followers in the Stories section. Earlier in 2021, the company released a tool that filters messages containing questionable keywords.
