The foldable market is heating up, and it’s neither Samsung nor Google that’s making the news lately. While waiting for the OnePlus Open to arrive, another Chinese brand has announced a foldable phone with some really interesting features.

Learn more:

The global price of the Honor Magic V2 foldable will be lower than that of the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Pixel Fold. The Honor Magic Vs2 was unveiled in China on October 12 and the company boasts of being the lightest inward-folding smartphone on the market. Behind these bold claims are some really cool technologies.

The Honor Magic Vs2 weighs only 221 grams thanks to an aerospace-grade magnesium alloy chassis. This rare earth alloy covers most of the surface area beneath the internal 7.92-inch foldable OLED display.

And because titanium is a hot topic these days, the hinge of the Honor Magic Vs2 is made of titanium and, what’s more, it has been 3D printed to further reduce the weight and production cost.

The specifications of the Honor Magic Vs2 are also quite impressive. The 6.43-inch 20:9 external OLED display, for example, supports a peak brightness of up to 2,500 nits and comes with a resolution of 2,376 x 1,060. The larger interior display and flexible is a 7.92-inch OLED panel that has a resolution of 2344 x 2156 and can reach a brightness of 1600 nits.

Further down the spec sheet we find a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor (unfortunately, it’s not a Gen 2), two memory configurations (12GB/256GB and 16GB/512GB) and powerful lenses on the back of the phone.

The Magic Vs2 comes with a triple camera system, including a 50 MP wide camera, a 20 MP telephoto lens, and a 12 MP ultra-wide camera. You can get up to 40x hybrid zoom and AI-optimized camera features like portraits, night photos, and more. On the battery front, this foldable shines with a sufficient 5,000mAh battery, despite its slim size, and you also get fast 66W charging. The sad thing is that even if we say “you get it”, chances are this foldable won’t be coming out of China anytime soon.

As for pricing, the phone comes in Midnight Black, Violet Coral, and Glacier Blue and starts at RMB 6,999 (around $960).
