Industry Reacts Including Nintendo President and Hideo Kojima،

After a few years of uncertainty, E3 has finally been declared dead this week. Signaling the end of one of the industry's most famous conventions, many familiar faces reacted to the news.

The end of an era

Unable to keep up with the evolving video game scene, as well as the long-term effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, E3 I finally had to admit that it was time to stop this. Although many were sure that the Electronic Entertainment Expo wouldn't be the same anyway, it obviously left a void for some.

In articles about Hideo Kojima recalled the time the Konami team first showed off Metal Gear Solid in 1997. He added that without E3, “Japanese creators and titles wouldn't have managed to break through as much as they did they did it”.

Nintendo's own Doug Bowser – the president of the company's US arm – said it was “difficult to overstate the number of unforgettable moments this has given us all”, adding: “what a ride!”

Cory Balrog – the creative director of God of War – said they were “on the ground showing the demo” of the very first game in the series. He also stated that he “loved and hated the show.”

Tech companies also offered their condolences. Intel intervened by saying that it was the “end of an era”, while Nvidia thanked the event for the “essential memories.”

From 1995, E3 has become a video game staple with its annual gathering of studios and publishers, promoting their next release and generating media buzz.
