Apple’s Journal app is here to help you keep track of special moments

Announced in October, the Apple Journal app is now available to anyone with an iOS device. As the name suggests, the app is intended to help users track special events in their lives not only by writing, but also by capturing photos and videos.

The new Journal app uses on-device machine learning to provide users with personalized suggestions to make writing journal entries easier, as well as customizable notifications to help users develop specific writing habits.

Journal makes it easy to preserve rich, powerful memories and practice gratitude by intelligently storing the user's personal information, right from their iPhone. And we enable other journaling apps to offer the same personalized suggestions while maintaining the highest level of privacy.” said Bob Borchers, Apple's vice president of worldwide product marketing. Each entry written in the Journal app can be enriched with multimedia content like photos, videos, locations or an audio recording to add more context You will also be able to browse your previous entries, add them to your favorites or filter for details such as photos, workouts, locations and much more.

The suggestions offered by the application are “intelligently organized» and are designed to help users remember to write about an important moment in their life. According to AppleUsers can control the type of content that appears in suggestions.

When it comes to privacy, Apple says its new Journal app encrypts all entries when the iPhone is locked with a passcode. In addition to this, users can enable secondary authentication and lock the Journal app with their device passcode, Face ID or Touch ID.

It is also important to mention that all log entries are end-to-end encrypted when stored in iCloud to prevent anyone from accessing them.
