Oh my goodness, we have some incredible news! The Pixel 8 has just become a gaming smartphone! Well, it's not a gaming phone per se, but its gaming performance has been significantly improved via Google's December 2023 Feature Drop update.
As shared by Mishaal Rahman on X (formerly Twitter), Google's December update for Pixel phones includes a new Arm Mali GPU kernel driver, which users say improves gaming performance.
The December 2023 Feature Drop update brings a much newer Arm Mali GPU kernel driver to Tensor Pixels, which users say significantly improves performance in games like Genshin Impact and Fortnite!

Users have seen a significant increase in games like Genshin Impact and Fortnite. For example, YouTuber TechDroider (via Android Font) noticed that the Pixel 8 can now run Fortnite at 60fps at the game's highest graphics settings. The good news is that the new GPU driver isn't exclusive to Google's latest and greatest software. Pixel 8 And Pixel 8 Pro phones, so also expect better gaming performance on your old Pixel smartphone, although not quite at the level of the Pixel 8 align.
Google's Tensor platform has never been famous for its raw power, unlike Qualcomm's Snapdragons, so if you like to play games all the time, there's a good chance you'll opt for a more powerful phone like the Galaxy S23 Ultra or a real gaming handset like the Asus ROG Phone 7. Still, it's amazing that Pixel users can now play their favorite games with significantly better performance.
