Apple to update iPhone units inside Apple Stores without opening the boxes،

Those who aren’t phone enthusiasts (a badge I proudly wear on my sleeve) might not even think twice, but once you’ve bought a new iPhone and set it up, the First thing to do is to look for software. update. For example, this year Apple released iOS 17.0.1 before it started shipping the iPhone 15 series. Even if that wasn’t the case this year, if a serious bug required sending out a patch before the shipping of a new iPhone series, those who will receive the phone might not think to check if their device comes with an update.
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman in his weekly Power On newsletter, Apple is developing a system that will allow it to update iPhone units in Apple Stores without an employee opening each box and manually updating each phone. The technology involves the use of a proprietary stand on which iPhone boxes are placed. The pad will wirelessly turn on iPhone units stacked on it, update iOS, and turn off phones without disturbing the packaging.

This isn’t a pipe dream a few years from now, as Apple plans to start shipping the pads to Apple Stores before the end of the year. It’s unclear whether Apple will eventually allow its carrier partners to use this technology to update iPhone inventory in these stores.

If you just bought an iPhone for the first time, you can update your phone by going to Settings > General > Software update. Follow the on-screen instructions to download and install the update. It will be interesting to see if Android phone manufacturers come up with similar technology that will allow Android phone buyers to run the latest version of Android on a new phone without having to worry about checking for the latest update.
