We are all more or less fanboys. It is human nature to associate with something and hold on to it, sometimes leaving aside the objective flaws in the process. And that's perfectly fine. First of all, nothing is perfect, and second, if being part of a “tribe” makes you feel better, that's okay too.

Of course, nothing radical is ever good, which is why we must be careful not to fall into extremes. There are countless stories of people who blindly follow their idols, their brands, their faith or whatever. We must always be aware of this and we must not leave our critical thinking at home.

But let's not make this a moral discourse. We are here to check so-called brand loyalty. I'll start with a personal example. Since my early childhood, I have been a fan of Sony. The first TV I bought with my own money was a small 14-inch Sony (to go with my brand new original PlayStation).

Over the years, I have tested many Sony products (Walkmans, consoles and phones), finally abandoning my fanboyism and converting it to a much more objective approach. And while I probably won't buy an Xperia with my own money, every time I hold one of these phones for a review, a sweet nostalgia rises to my chest.

The question here is simple. How likely are you to stick with your current smartphone brand? Are you a brand loyalist and does what it says on the box matter? Vote in our poll and share your favorite brand in the comments section below.
