OnePlus 12 Launched Globally So Should You Buy it or Wait till Samsung Galaxy S24 Series launch?،

OnePlus announced the flagship OnePlus 12 smartphone in China yesterday. The company plans to introduce it in India very soon. Meanwhile, Samsung is preparing to launch the flagship Samsung Galaxy S24 series devices in mid-January (mainly January 17). Both these smartphones are flagship products of the manufacturers and claim to offer the best performance in all aspects. Now the question for consumers is whether they should go for the OnePlus 12 or wait for Samsung to discontinue the Galaxy S24 Ultra.

Let's try to find some answers by analyzing the features and specifications of these two premium flagship smartphones.

OnePlus 12 vs Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra: design and colors

As expected from a design perspective OnePlus 12 hasn't undergone many changes since its predecessor. The OnePlus 12 comes with some useful improvements, but otherwise the design is similar to the OnePlus 11. The alert slider has been moved from right to left to improve the gaming antenna signal by 3dB and reduce game latency of 15%. The smartphone is available in black, white and green tones.

As for Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, a major expected design change is the move to a titanium body, just like the iPhone 15 Pro series a few months ago. The Galaxy S23 Ultra could move to a flatter design compared to previous Galaxy models but will retain the same general aesthetic of its predecessors. The S-Pen will still be there. In terms of colors, the Galaxy S24 Ultra would be available in black, gray, purple and yellow tones. Exclusive colors will be available via Samsung.com, as usual.

In terms of features, the OnePlus 12 and Galaxy S24 Ultra will have a USB Type-C port on the bottom, as well as no audio jack or micro SD card slot on the deck.

Conclusion– considering the design, the Galaxy S24 Ultra might have an advantage if it features a titanium body.

OnePlus 12 vs Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra: Display

The recently launched OnePlus 12 sports a 6.82-inch 2K LTPO OLED panel from BOE. It has a peak brightness of 4,500 nits and exceeds current industry standards by integrating rainwater touch technology for smooth touch responses in rainy conditions. There is also 2160 PWM dimming.

Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra is expected to feature a 6.8-inch Dynamic AMOLED panel with 3080×1440 resolution, 500 ppi and Gorilla Glass Victus 2. Samsung is also upping the brightness this time with peak levels being 2500 nits for the Galaxy S24 Ultra. On paper, this may seem much lower than the OnePlus 12, but Samsung's screens are of the highest quality, so Samsung's 2,500 nits would give OnePlus' 4,500 nits a tough fight.

Both devices will also come with fingerprint scanners and face unlock.

Conclusion– Both have bright, high-definition displays, but since the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra might have an AMOLED panel, its performance should be better.

OnePlus 12 vs Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra: Chipset and OS

OnePlus 12 is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, the latest and most powerful from the house of Qualcomm. The chipset is paired with up to 24GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.0 onboard storage. It also features a 9,140mm² vapor chamber cooling system for top-notch thermal performance. In terms of operating system, it will run ColorOS 14 (OxygenOS 14 globally) based on Android 14.

Talk about Galaxy S24 Ultra, it will feature Exynos 2400 as well as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, depending on the region. India could get an Exynos 2400 SoC. Paired with the chipset, it will have a RAM of up to 12 GB and storage of up to 1 TB. It will run Samsung UI based on Android 14.

Conclusion- OnePlus 12 seems to have an advantage thanks to better RAM and storage models.

Galaxy S24 Ultra

OnePlus 12 vs Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra: Camera

OnePlus 12 features a triple camera setup on the back comprising a 50 MP Sony LYT-808 primary sensor, along with a 48 MP Sony IMX581 ultra-wide sensor and a 64 MP OmniVision OV64B 3x periscope telephoto lens. On the front is a 32 MP selfie camera. OnePlus also continued its partnership with Hasselblad.

Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra is experiencing a major change. Instead of a 10X periscope lens offering 100x hybrid zoom, Samsung will now opt for a sensible 5.0X telephoto lens. The rest of the camera setup will be the same with a 200 MP ISOCELL sensor, a 12 MP ultra-wide camera and a 10 MP telephoto lens along with the new 5.0X telephoto lens.

Conclusion- Above all, there will be equality in terms of camera performance.

OnePlus 12 vs Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra: Battery and Charging

OnePlus 12

OnePlus 12 packs a 5,400mAh battery under the hood with 100W wired and 50W wireless fast charging.

Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra should stick to a 5,000mAh battery with 45W wired fast charging and 15W wireless fast charging.

Conclusion- OnePlus 12 has an advantage in terms of battery as well as fast charging speed.
