There were few hints of the thriller to come during a low-key opening 20 minutes on a raw night at Kenilworth Road, but the game came alive when Gabriel Martinelli's scuffed shot from Bukayo's pass Saka gave Arsenal the lead.

Luton responded five minutes later with Gabriel Osho powering a header past David Raya from Alfie Doughty's corner.

Saka and Martinelli were both denied by Thomas Kaminski's saves, but Arsenal regained the lead just before the break with Gabriel Jesus heading in Ben White's cross.

Arsenal's Declan Rice celebrates after scoring a goal against Luton Town in the Premier League.

Luton shook Arsenal on their heels as opener Elijah Adebayo headed another corner in the 49th minute before Andros Townsend played in fellow former England international Ross Barkley eight minutes later to drill a low shot under Raya, who endured a difficult night.

The old stadium was teetering to its foundations, but Luton's joy was cut short when Kai Havertz tackled them on the hour following a Jesus pass. Rice then left the hosts in despair as Arsenal once again showed their penchant for late goals.

They have now taken nine points this season thanks to goals scored in the last five minutes of matches.

“Luton are a top team and they cannot be overlooked in this league because of their quality,” Rice told Amazon Prime. “To score in the last minute and keep the momentum going is huge for us. Those are the moments we remember. What a game. To score the winner is an honour.”

Arsenal have 36 points from 15 games played with Liverpool on 31 and champions Manchester City on 30, with the latter two teams in action on Wednesday.
