Have you been laid off by T-Mobile in the last three years? Here’s a discount to cheer you up!،

If you've been with T-Mobile for more than a minute, you probably already know that the “Un-carrier” frequently offers great deals on popular plans and devices to new subscribers, existing subscribers, loyal customers, and finally , but not at least the employees. But you probably didn't know that even (some) former Magenta employees can benefit from a so-called “alumni discount”.

That's a pretty pretentious and almost insulting name for a small user benefit apparently included in severance packages for people recently laid off by the second-largest wireless service provider in the United States. But it's obviously better than nothing, at least if you decide to stay dedicated to T-Mo after the company makes your services useless or your position “redundant.”
This is a phenomenon that the mobile network operator promised not to bring nationwide after its costly acquisition of Sprint in 2020, which was clearly and predictably false. Instead of creating jobs, the “New TMobile” has gotten rid of thousands and thousands of people in several waves over the last three years, and interestingly, all former employees “impacted” by the merger could be entitled to the same discount.
This is a nice 20% discount you can get on “standard priced” voice packages up to a total of 12 lines, but unfortunately it can't be combined with other “Insider” promotions similar ones you may have received while working for. TMobile or discounts like 55+, Military, First Responder, Essentials 55+ or Amplified.

Plans on which this “Alumni” discount is valid include Simple Choice, TMobile One, Essentials, Magenta, Magenta Max, Go5G, Go5G Plus and Go5G Next, which is a pretty long and extensive list, and yes, you can combine the ex-employee special with “most device promotions and certain promotions on services” like Good.

All these details come from internal documents discovered by the people at The mobile report (who else?), and since the program isn't really heavily advertised, you'll need to contact customer support to check if you're actually eligible and what the official terms and conditions are. Of course, you must first have been licensed by TMobile at some point after the formal completion of its Sprint merger, in which case we obviously hope you've managed to find a new job and no longer resent your old employer… too much.
