Kelly Oubre Jr. scoffs at ‘conspiracy theorists,’ calls hit-and-run ‘traumatic’،

PHILADELPHIA — Kelly Oubre Jr. wanted to set the record straight: Yes, a vehicle hit him while he was walking near his home and the driver fled. Yes, he suffered a traumatic injury. And no, he doesn't care about anyone who questions his account of what happened on that Philadelphia street last month.

“It was and is a very traumatic situation for me and my family,” Oubre told reporters Monday at the Philadelphia 76ers complex in Philadelphia, New Jersey. “So I just wish my life wasn't like 'The Truman Show' where everyone watched it and had their own opinion on my life.”

Oubre got off to a good start in his first season with the 76ers (16.3 points in eight games) when he reported being hit by a vehicle while walking near his home in Center City Philadelphia , the 11th of November. was taken to hospital in stable condition and was released a few hours later with a broken rib and injuries to his hip and right leg, police said at the time, adding that an investigation was underway.

The car, described as silver in color, fled the scene, Oubre told authorities.

Philadelphia police said about two weeks later that they had yet to find video evidence of a hit-and-run.

“It's very difficult for us to deal with this and for me to miss being on the field, which keeps me sane, and a lot of people have been very inconsiderate and insensitive in trying to worry about the cameras video,” Oubre said while refusing. to go into details. “So yeah, I mean, I'm really lucky that it's not worse than what it is and that I can come back to work and smile and walk and talk and breathe. So yeah, that's exactly what I said conspiracy theorists.

“I love them too. I stay there in my free time and watch them, but not with my life. [expletive] serious.”

Oubre is expected to return to the lineup Wednesday in Washington.

“I have spoken to the police about this situation and an investigation is underway,” Oubre said. “I've talked to whoever I need to talk to and people about how things are going, and I'm not going to talk about any details about it because they're looking into it.”

The 76ers and police were in contact regarding the status of the investigation.

Oubre signed with the Sixers on September 26 and had just moved to the neighborhood when he was injured.

Oubre said he is “ready to play” and join the 76ers (12-7) as they aim for first place in the Eastern Conference.

Coach Nick Nurse said of Oubre that he would “probably start him right away” against the Wizards.
