Galaxy Z Flip 6 release date predictions, price, specs, and must-know features

Rumors and leaks are now starting to emerge from the dark corners of the internet and build excitement for next year's foldable. Here's what we're hearing about the Z Flip 6 so far. Jump to:

Galaxy Z Flip 6 expected release date

Usually, Samsung holds an Unpacked event in the summer to showcase its new foldable flagships. The event usually takes place in late July or early August. The Flip 6's predecessor, the Flip 5, was announced on July 26. In previous years, the event took place a little later, in August. It's naturally a little early to have the official date, but expect it to be in July or August.

Expected price of Galaxy Z Flip 6

So far, we haven't heard any leaks about the price of Samsung's next foldable. This is understandable considering we have about six months until the official unveiling. For now, it can be assumed that the price will remain the same and the Z Flip 6 could be available at the same price as its predecessor. Of course, when leaks about this emerge, we'll be sure to include them here.

Galaxy Z Flip 6 camera: What to expect

The leaks have yet to detail the exact camera setup we should expect for the foldable clamshell. It's no secret that foldable cameras aren't their strong point, and part of that could be due to the lack of space for larger sensors due to the phone's particular design. The Z Flip 5's camera wasn't particularly improved over its predecessor and sported most of the same hardware, so we can expect a similar situation for the Flip 6 as well. You can expect a dual-camera setup with a 12 MP wide-angle and a 12 MP ultra-wide camera if the Flip 6 sports the same cameras as the Flip 5. The foldable will most likely have a third camera (the selfie on the inner screen), which could end up being 10MP.

Galaxy Z Flip 6 storage: what to expect

We don't expect any big changes in the storage department either. The Flip 5 comes with either 256 or 512 GB of storage, and it is highly likely that the Flip 6 will be available in these two storage variants as well. Usually, phones with more storage are aimed more at power users, and these phones include the Galaxy S23 Ultra or the Z Fold 5 (these two also have 1TB storage options).

Galaxy Z Flip 6 design: what the rumors say so far

Clamshell foldables have automatic points for design simply because of their unique and recognizable form factor. Of course, we're expecting a similar design to the predecessor Flip 6 this year. However, leaks show that we could get an even larger exterior display with the Flip 6.

The Flip 5 improved on the very small exterior screen of the Flip 4 and gave it more features. The Flip 5's exterior screen measures 3.4 inches, which is a big improvement over the Flip 4's small 1.9-inch exterior screen.

As for other design elements, we don't expect any dramatic changes. Last time around, Samsung improved the Flip 5's hinge with new hinge technology that helped make the foldable slightly slimmer. It's unclear whether Samsung will continue to improve the hinge technology even further. When we hear rumors about this, we will let you know.

When it comes to colors, Samsung is known for delivering fresh and exciting colors with each iteration of its premium phones and we expect the Flip 6 to continue the tradition. Maybe we can expect purple, white or beige, black color and some new ones to attract attention.

Expected Galaxy Z Flip 6 display specifications

Ross Young's leak indicates that the Z Flip 6's exterior screen will be even larger at 3.9 inches. Ross also said the foldable screen could be larger, but he didn't say by how much. It's possible that the other display specifications of the Flip 6 will remain similar to its predecessor.

Here's what we're expecting from the Z Flip 6's screen specs so far:

Main screen (the foldable one):

• The size should be a little bigger than 6.6 inches
• Expected resolution 2640 x 1080 (FHD+)
• 2X Dynamic AMOLED
• 120Hz display refresh rate

Outer screen (cover screen):

• The size should be around 3.9 inches
• Expected resolution 720 x 748
• SUPER AMOLED

Galaxy Z Flip 6 Battery and Charging Specs: What to Expect

Rumors are still scarce about the Z Flip 6's battery size and charging speeds. Its predecessor sports a 3,700mAh battery with charging speeds of 25W wired and 10W wireless. The Flip 4 also has the same battery specifications. We hope Samsung has found a way to improve the Flip 6's battery size, simply because battery improvements are always a good thing. But we don't know if that will be the case.

Galaxy Z Flip 6 expected features and software

So far, rumors have not yet spoken about this. We expect the phone to ship with Android 14 and One UI 6, and will then likely be updated to One UI 7 in late 2024. Other than that, we expect the Flip 5's foldable features, such as Flex mode, are also available for the Flip 6. And Samsung has plenty of room to surprise us.

Expected Galaxy Z Flip 6 hardware

Samsung's clamshell foldables always come with the latest and greatest chip. In the case of the Z Flip 6, that means a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, 8GB of RAM, and 256GB of starting storage. We're not expecting an Exynos processor here, as Samsung isn't used to it. to use Exynos for foldables.
