Google Delays its Next-Gen AI Gemini Launch to January Next Year،

Google announced its next-generation AI chatbot named Gemini at Google I/O 2023 in May. This was due to be announced next week, however, the latest update coming from The Information suggests the unveiling has been pushed back to January next week.

Google Gemini, a direct rival to OpenAI's ChatGPT-4, is a multimodal AI chatbot that can take multiple types of data and produce responses accordingly. For the uninitiated, ChatGPT can take text data and return text output as well as voice transcriptions that have been recently activated. However, Google's Gemini can accept different types of content such as text, images, and even website-based responses.

The search engine giant was expected to hold several launch events in California, Washington and New York in the United States, to roll out Gemini. For the moment, the giant has not yet announced a delay, although The Information cites two anonymous sources who are aware of this decision.

In November, Pichai said that they are working on the biggest update, namely Gemini 1.0, which will be released soon. Developers will work on v1.0 to improve it with post-launch iterations. Google CEO Sundar Pichai reportedly took the step after Gemini failed to produce reliable answers to queries in a language other than English, as Google emphasizes AI to have global language support in order to ultimately match and surpass ChatGPT-4.

Google Gemini will be a rival to OpenAI's latest GPT-4 model and will surpass the latter in all forms, including computing power. Sissie Hsiao, Google vice president and head of Bard & Google Assistant, said Gemini will be able to answer questions like “I'm trying to make a cake, draw me 3 pictures of the steps to ice a three-layer cake. cake”. Although ChatGPT-4 can produce a text response describing the steps in detail, it would be able to respond with images, which sets Gemini apart.
