Arsenal unveil wild new kit designed by club legend Ian Wright،
As one of the club’s most charismatic and popular former players (and, more importantly, one of the greatest goalscorers in Premier League history), Ian Wright remains an integral part of the Arsenal family.
The former England striker – who scored 128 goals in 221 games for the club – recently celebrated his 60th birthday, but he remains a man who carries himself in style.
After appearing in various kit unveilings over the years and being regularly involved in their charity and community activities, the Gunners have finally gifted Wright with his own special collection of limited edition clothing.
The clothing was created with input from the man himself and includes a pre-match jersey, reversible jacket and shoulder bag. The designs are all black and white with gold details on the club crest, the three stripes from manufacturer Adidas.
The hand-drawn patchwork designs are inspired by highlights of Wright’s career, his path to stardom and aspects of his famously effervescent personality.
For example, the jacket features a large silhouette illustration of a signature smile and gold tooth that is undoubtedly that of the striker who was once Arsenal’s top scorer.
There is also an image (complete with iconic ponytail) of former Arsenal and England goalkeeper David Seaman, who played alongside Wright for many years at Arsenal and remains a friend of his the closest.
Seaman actually stars in the launch material alongside compatriot Kelly Smith and current Gunners stars including Gabriel Jesus, Kim Little, Gabriel Magalhaes, Katie McCabe, Eddie Nketiah and David Raya.
“After turning 60 last month, I’ve been thinking a lot about what I’ve done so far, my time at Arsenal and the very special people I’ve worked with,” Wright said.
“So to be working with Adidas and Arsenal on this range that represents some of the greatest moments of my career is really special. I hope people feel as much love in this collection as I do.”
When it comes to Arsenal fans and Ian Wright, it’s all love.
