The ultimate all-screen smartphone: new Android flagship arrives with smaller bezels than iPhone 15 Pro،

Another day, another exciting Chinese flagship announcement! This time it’s the Meizu 21, the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 flagship announced in the Far East. Besides the powerful chipset, the phone sports a very interesting design with almost no bezels around the screen. In fact, Meizu claims that the bezel measures just 1.74mm on all sides and the display is only interrupted by the punch-hole selfie camera, bringing us closer to the dream of an all-screen smartphone.

Let’s see what else the Meizu 21 can offer now that it has our attention, shall we? The design of the phone is reminiscent of the Galaxy S series from the last two generations, with separate camera holes and a vertical orientation of the main camera system. What’s interesting is that the bottom camera features an RGB flash ring. Meizu says that it is an evolution of the Aicy Smart Ring system and can produce various light effects during music playback, gaming and also serve as a notification light.

The frame is made of aircraft-grade aluminum and sports a flat design, much like what we’ve come to expect from the Galaxy S24. Meizu also has a new “Boundless Antenna System 2.0” which improves signal performance by 30% compared to the Meizu 20 series. On the front of the screen we have a 6.55 inch OLED display made by Samsung with a dynamic refresh rate of 120 Hz, maximum brightness. of 1,800 nits and HDR10+ support. It’s worth mentioning that Meizu normally launches a Pro model right after Vanilla’s official announcement, so expect more impressive specs on the Pro.
The camera system uses a 200 MP Samsung sensor (Samsung S5KHP3) for the main camera, which the Korean company launched recently and which is aimed at upper mid-range phones and, as we can see, flagship products as well. It’s a 1/1.4″ sensor with a pixel size of 0.56 microns and capable of recording 8K at 30fps, as well as 7.5fps burst shooting at 200 MP.Meizu 21 camera system:
  • 200MP Samsung S5KHP3, OIS)
  • 12MP Ultra Wide Angle (Samsung S5K3L6)
  • Portrait with 5 MP depth of field (Samsung S5K5E9)
  • Front: 32 MP (Samsung S5KJD1)

Further down in the datasheet we find the above Snapdragon 8 generation 3 processor and three memory configurations. The base model starts at 8GB/256GB and costs CNY3,399 (around $480), then there’s a 12GB/256GB model, and things stop at 12GB/512GB for CNY3,999 ($560).

The battery capacity is 4,800mAh and the phone supports up to 80W wired fast charging. Available in four colors, including Boundless Black, Meizu White, Green and Spirit Purple, the phone goes on sale on December 5, with no announcement on a global release.

As we said above, keep in mind that there might be a Meizu 21 Pro model waiting for its five minutes of fame, so stay tuned.
